Description
The cunning Marquise de Cat has seized the woodland, intending to claim all of its abundant riches for herself. Many of the forest's inhabitants have banded together under her oppressive rule. The Alliance seeks to strengthen its position and undermine the authority of the cats. In this endeavor, the Alliance can enlist the help of wandering Vagabonds, who are capable of traversing even the most dangerous and treacherous forest paths. And although some of them share the hopes and dreams of the Alliance, these wanderers are old enough to remember the great birds of prey that once held dominion over the forests.
Meanwhile, on the outskirts of the woodland, the haughty and quarrelsome Dynasty has found a new commander, upon whom all hopes are placed as the faction leader who will restore their ancient and inalienable birthright to rule the forest. Everything is set for the clash that will decide the fate of this vast woodland. Players will determine which group ultimately takes root here in this root game experience on Mac. The strategy of the Marquise de Cat, the most recent conqueror of the forest, revolves around construction and material provisioning, as well as maintaining order across the expansive woodland territory. By producing wood, she builds workshops and sawmills and places recruiters to earn victory points. The Marquise de Cat commands the largest army in ROOT, but sheer numbers alone are not enough to guard and protect the entire forest...
The Marquise de Cat builds a powerful industrial war machine designed to subjugate the woodland. Every time the Marquise constructs a workshop, a sawmill, or places a recruiter, you earn victory points. The more buildings of one type that exist on the map, the more points the next one of that type is worth. However, to continue building at an active pace, the Marquise must maintain and protect an efficient unified woodland economy. It is very tempting to try to overwhelm your opponents through sheer quantity and volume, but there is a real danger of taking on too many tasks simultaneously and ultimately being unable to keep up with all of them in this root mac game.
Before the cats arrived, the forest was ruled by the Eyrie Dynasty. They must reclaim control by seizing territory and building roosts before they fall into squabbling once again. The haughty Dynasty is bound by the decrees of its leaders. Each leader has their own specialization and distinct advantages. The right leader at the right time can lead you to glorious victory, but the wrong leader can severely undermine your chances of reclaiming the forest and restoring former glory.
In the evening phase, the Dynasty earns victory points based on the number of roosts present on the map. The more roosts scattered throughout the forest, the more points they generate each turn. However, the Dynasty is bound by its decree โ a constantly growing set of prescribed actions assigned by the current leader. Each turn, you must complete every single action in the decree, or turmoil will erupt and throw the Dynasty into disarray.
The Woodland Alliance despises tyrants โ whether old or new. The Marquise, the Dynasty โ they are all the same in the eyes of the common folk. This forest can only be governed by the will of the people! The Woodland Alliance are masters of guerrilla warfare; they build momentum slowly, but if they can topple the other claimants to power during that time, they will forge a great and mighty dominion by the end of the session.
The Woodland Alliance earns the support of various forest creatures and woodland inhabitants. The Alliance gains victory points by placing sympathy tokens across the map. The more sympathy tokens present on the map, the more points each subsequent one is worth. To win the support of the common folk, you need supporters in your ranks. Supporters can also employ forceful methods, inciting forest dwellers to open revolt and rebellion. When an uprising erupts, the Alliance establishes a base. Bases allow the Alliance to train officers, significantly increasing their military strength and maneuverability. Consider a root download to experience these mechanics on your Mac.

Playing as the Vagabond, you explore the entire map in search of items and ruins: not just the clearings, but also the dense and mysterious forest pathways. You can assist the warring factions on credit or receive something in return โ something that will help you complete your own secret and personal quests.

The Vagabond earns victory points when he improves relations with another faction or destroys a warrior belonging to a faction hostile toward him. Quests can also be completed for additional victory points. To move and act effectively across the map, the Vagabond must manage a collection of items and expand his options by exploring forest ruins and providing aid to other factions.
